Overdraft Protection Plan Options
Standard Overdraft Protection Plan- Overdraft Transfer
If you do not have enough funds to cover a transaction in your checking account, but you do have available funds in a savings account, credit card, or line of credit account, you can elect to have funds automatically transferred from those accounts to cover the transaction presented to your checking account.
You must first setup an Overdraft Transfer to be eligible for Courtesy Pay or Debit Card Courtesy Pay.
Standard Overdraft Protection Plan- Courtesy Pay
Once you setup an Overdraft Transfer, and meet eligibility1 requirements, you are automatically enrolled in Courtesy Pay, but you may opt out of this service at any time. Courtesy Pay is activated when you do not have enough funds in your checking account to cover an item, and you do not have enough funds in your Overdraft Transfer account to cover the item. There is a $30 per item fee assessed when Courtesy Pay is activated, which is limited to six (6) fees per day. The Courtesy Pay limit is based on your relationship with Rivermark, including the age of your account, frequency and dollar amount of deposits and other related account information. Your Courtesy Pay limit may be adjusted based on changes to your deposit and/or overdraft repayment patterns.
Courtesy Pay Eligibility1 Requirements:
- Establish an Overdraft Transfer Account
- Membership/Checking Account has been open for at least thirty (30) days
- Regular deposits are made consistent with past practices
- Account is in good standing and not subject to any legal or administrative order such as bankruptcy or a tax lien
Ineligible Accounts:
- Savings accounts
- Youth accounts
- Money Market accounts
- Public Funds/Charitable Organization accounts
- Fiduciary Accounts (Ex. Estate or Conservatorship)
- Opportunity Checking accounts
Courtesy Pay Eligible Items:
- Checks and other transactions using your checking account number
- Automatic bill payments
- Recurring debit card transactions, such as for a monthly subscription
- Automated Clearing House (ACH) withdrawals (such as a gym membership that is automatically paid from your checking account)
Optional Overdraft Protection Plan- Debit Card Courtesy Pay
If you have setup an Overdraft Transfer and have met the eligibility requirements for Courtesy Pay listed above, you may choose to add the optional service of Debit Card Courtesy Pay. Debit Card Courtesy Pay is activated when you do not have enough funds in your checking account, and you do not have enough funds in your Overdraft Transfer account to cover an everyday debit card transaction. There is a $30 per item fee assessed when Debit Card Courtesy Pay is activated, with a limit of six (6) fees per day. The Courtesy Pay limit is based on your relationship with Rivermark including the age of your account, frequency and dollar amount of deposits and other related account information. Your Courtesy Pay limit may be adjusted based on changes to your deposit and/or overdraft repayment patterns.
Debit Card Courtesy Pay Eligibility:
- Opt-In for Debit Card Courtesy Pay
- Establish an Overdraft Transfer

- Everyday debit card purchases in which you do not enter your PIN (restaurants, gas stations, travel, parking meters, etc.)
- Everyday debit card purchases in which you enter your PIN at checkout
- ATM withdrawals or transfers
