Rivermark in the Community

Rivermark volunteers.

At Rivermark, we're committed to more than just serving our members—we're dedicated to uplifting the communities we call home. Our giveback is centered around three fundamental pillars: housing security, children's health, and combating hunger. We firmly believe that the unique capabilities of the credit union model can be harnessed as a force in addressing these critical issues.

We're not just about words; we're about action. Here's how we make that happen:

Partnerships

We believe in the power of collaboration. Rivermark forms strategic partnerships with local organizations that align with our mission of giving back. Together, we work to create sustainable solutions that have a lasting impact on our community.

Donations

Over the years, we've donated significant amounts to local charities and nonprofits. These contributions help fund vital programs and services, bringing us one step closer to our vision of a vibrant, healthy community.

Sponsorships

Rivermark sponsors events that resonate with our community development goals. Through these sponsorships, we not only give financially, but also help raise awareness about important issues.

Volunteerism

We empower our employees to be agents of change. By offering paid volunteer time off, we encourage our team to get involved and make a difference in the community.

Fighting Hunger

We're deeply invested in the well-being of our communities, and one issue that we've consistently focused on is fighting hunger. Every year, we proudly participate in the KGW Great Food Drive, an initiative aimed at combating food insecurity in our region. it's an ongoing commitment to ensure that our neighbors have access to nutritious meals. Our participation involves raising awareness of food insecurity and collecting donations These contributions are then distributed to those in need. Over the years, this drive has collected millions of pounds of food, providing countless meals our area.

The Oregon Food Bank is an incredible organization provides emergency food to people who are hungry through a cooperative statewide network of hunger-relief agencies. We contribute to the Oregon Food Bank financially and by volunteering our time. Our employees can often be found sorting and packing food boxes and helping in whatever way they can.

Housing Security

Affordable and equitable housing is a fundamental need that significantly impacts our members' quality of life. Especially in our area, where housing costs have been on the rise, our dedication to this cause has never been more crucial. We're committed to helping people find housing and ensuring it remains affordable over time. We work tirelessly to make acquiring a home a reality for more people by providing education, resources, and services tailored to meet diverse needs.

To further our efforts, we've established the Rivermark Community Fund. This fund supports local nonprofit organizations that share our mission of creating sustainable, affordable, fair, and equitable housing within our communities. We provide an annual grant of $20,000 to non-profits helping make a difference in our area. The Rivermark Community Fund is more than just a grant—it's our commitment to our community, our investment in its future, and our contribution towards building a society where everyone has a place to call home.

Children's Health and Wellness

For years, we've been passionately committed to children's health, ensuring that resources are available for those in need. One of our key partnerships is with Doernbecher Children's Hospital through the CU4Kids program. This collaboration allows us to directly support the hospital in providing world-class care to children. By contributing funds and raising awareness, we help ensure that every child has access to the medical care they need, regardless of their family's ability to pay.

Recognizing that basic needs like diapers can be a significant expense for families, Rivermark organizes an annual Diaper Drive in collaboration with the PDX Diaper Bank. We collect donations, which are then distributed to families in need. This initiative meets a critical need and helps alleviate financial stress for families, contributing to their overall well-being.
